Description
I caught wind of Stella , visiting in the St John's area of Newfoundland. She's a celebrity known far beyond the shores of Newfoundland, she's thought to have started her North American tour in Alaska, she's reportedly been seen in Texas, Maine , the Gaspe region of Quebec and we think she's been in Newfoundland for a couple of years now, last summer in the Trinity area and now being seen closer to St John's. Who could resist and opportunity to se her and maybe manage a couple of photo's of her too!! I managed to find her without too much difficulty and spent a few hours with her photographing her from across the river where she was spending time with other Bald Eagles , some that were nesting. Interesting that the two species were not aggressive towards each other. What a THRILL to finally catch up with her and be able to spend some time with this magnificent creature thats so far far away from home. For those of you that aren't aware of her, she's a Steller's Sea Eagle and she is normally within a range that encompasses Eastern Russia, Northern Japan, parts of Korea and even China. She's on a tour of North America and we're feeling really priviledged to have her visiting us in Newfoundland!! Hope you enjoy the image !!
